A LANDMARK
OF THE CITY

THE FIRST STEP
In 1960, Provident Fund of ΟΤΕ SA proceeded to the purchase of a land of10,000 sq.m. with the obligation to construct the hotel.

THE OPENING OF THE CITY’S NEW LANDMARK
In 1971, “Makedonia Palace” construction was completed. The Grand Opening was conducted on the 26th of October the same year. Makedonia Palace became the new landmark of Thessaloniki.

A HISTORIC SPEECH
Makedonia Palace granted a balcony of its 4th floor for a historical speech of Constantine Karamanlis, Prime Minister of Greece of that time. It was one of the greatest political speeches in the history of modern Greece.

THE AMBITIOUS “REMAKE” PROJECT
Thessaloniki’s point of reference enters a total renovation process, with a completion forecast in May 2017. The ambitious plan of the hotel’s renovation aims to further enhance its services while supporting the development of tourism in the region.

To communicate the initiative, we created the social media story of… a lamp that decided to get out of the hotel, wander around Thessaloniki and its most important monuments and end up to a new home… one of the charities involved.

REUSE program proves once again the strong social role of Makedonia Palace throughout its years of operation and gives the stigma of our philosophy.
