The Lobby
Marble is present, as a reference to the historical and cultural continuity of this place, through a duo of shades: the white of Dionysus and the black of Melissochori, so far away and yet so close to each other, in a composition influenced by the leading artist Yannis Moralis with a clear geometric character. The glass guides the light through refraction and reflection. And, of course, the touches of copper in small but subtle details.
Collaboration between MAKEDONIA PALACE and PAOK FC to offer relief to refugees. Love knows no borders!
For all of us, the people of MAKEDONIA PALACE and of PAOK FC, the strong emotions brought forth by the tragedy these people are experiencing are heightened by our own historical memories of similar tragedies experienced by our ancestors.
Makedonia Palace, in collaboration with PAOK FC, is undertaking a series of actions to offer relief to refugees.
Following the example of PAOK FC, who donated one euro for every ticket sold for the PAOK FC – Borussia Dortmund match and intends to donate the same amount for the team’s next two European matches to be played in its home stadium, MAKEDONIA PALACE is taking action and donating one euro for every overnight stay between the 20th of October and the 3rd of November 2015, actively supporting the Organization “Doctors of the World (Medecins du Monde)” and other humanitarian NGOs.
At the same time, MAKEDONIA PALACE and PAOK FC are organizing the immediate collection of clothing (mostly windbreakers) and food, basic necessities and pharmaceuticals (such as adult antibiotics, skin ointments, ear, nose and throat drops, antidiarrheal medications for adults and children, gastro-resistant medications, paracetamols of all types, and cough drops) for the refugees hosted in Thessaloniki and for those who are arriving at the Eidomeni border crossing on a daily basis. Volunteers can bring any of the above items that they wish to the Makedonia Palace reception, or to Gate 4 of the Toumba Stadium, starting on Monday, the 5th of October.
Makedonia Palace Plays Its Part During 81st Thessaloniki International Fair!
As every year, a large number of the fair’s visitors, including renowned personalities from the political and business world, selected the Makedonia Palace for their accommodation and meetings.
Moreover, most guests had the chance to be the first to experience the hotel’s brand new rooms located on three renovated floors.
Under the “Remake Project”, the eight-storey unit – Thessaloniki’s first luxury hotel which opened its doors in 1972 – is currently undergoing complete renovation works.
The mega-investment aims to bring back the elegance of the hotel that marked Thessaloniki history and has grown to become a landmark for the city.
The 1st Phase Of Makedonia Palace REMAKE Project Is Completed!
In particular, all the renovated rooms on the 7th and 8th floors, including the corner suites, have hardwood floors, while the 6th floor has wall-to-wall carpeting. Furthermore, the refurbished rooms have Coco-mat beds and electronic entry systems, resting chairs and laptop tables. All of the furnishings have clean lines, balanced colours and geometries, and are made of warm, earthy materials.
The fully refurbished bathrooms now offer contemporary amenities such as heated central mirrors, lighted magnifying vanity mirrors, bathtubs, walk-in shower cabins and rainfall showerheads.
It should also be noted that on all the renovated floors some standard rooms have been connected to create a new room type – the connecting room, suitable for hosting families.
Room amenities also include LED television sets with IP technology, with centralized management and projection. At the same time, all rooms have been wired with Cat6 Ethernet cables with wired connection capability and separate telephone lines, as well as intercom or direct call from the reception to the room or WC. The rooms also have KNX system with control capability from the guest’s devices (Bring Your Own Device- BYOD).
The 6th and 7th floors are lit by LED fixtures with lighting scenarios on each switch, while on the 8th floor lighting fixture operation is independent, through separate switches. At the same time, every room is equipped with central lighting of variable luminosity.
Makedonia Palace enters the final phase of remake Project!
On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, MAKEDONIA PALACE Hotel will close its doors; it will reopen, fully renovated, in April of the same year.
Now that the first phase of the REMAKE Project, the hotel’s major refurbishment program, has been successfully completed, MAKEDONIA PALACE Hotel now enters the second phase of its radical renovation.
The works of the final phase include the refurbishment of the remaining floors (one through five), the remaining interior facilities and exterior areas, as well as all of the hotel’s external façades. It is worth noting that the hotel’s reception area and main bar-restaurant will be moved to the waterfront side, and will offer spectacular views of Thermaikos Bay and the White Tower.
