Thermal Baths of Pozar (Loutra Pozar)

Only a 100km from Thessaloniki and 13km from a small town of Aridea, there’s a village called Loutraki, whose hidden treasures are an exceptional sources of natural mineral water.You can enjoy taking a dive into incredible pocks of hot  water, and alongside into the river too,or to relax in the kind of (by nature) formed baths.There are also a privately owned baths, so that no one disturbs you in those precious moments of relaxing. The area also provides opportunities for long walks into the nature and a very good cuisine. Prices that considered baths are more than reasonable, and that’s why Pozar is a great weekend destination.

 

 

The city of Edessa

Edessa is the capital of Pella regional unit, about 1h of driving from Thessaloniki. This picturesque little city is famous for its amazing waterfalls and crystal-clear springs coming from Mount Boras . Nearby is the open-air water museum, worth of visiting.

Mount Olympos

Mount Olympos is the highest mountain in Greece, known world-wide mostly because, according to mythology and ancient Greeks , it is the residing place of 12 Olympian Goods. Every year thousands of the nature-lovers visit Olympos  , so they can admire the charm of its surroundings, enjoy tours on the hillsides and in conquest of its peaks. Organized mountain shelters with various hiking and climbing routes are on disposal , to all the visitors who wish to explore Mount Olympos hidden treasures and beauties. Small village of Litohoro  (100km from Thessaloniki) is a usual  starting point, where (in the beggining of every summer) the Hiking Marathon of Olympos ends.

 

 

Ancient city of Dion

Distance from Thessaloniki – 1h by car. If you decide to visit the Mount Olympus, don’t miss the opportunity to see the ancient city of Dion, nowadays just a small village, in the mountain’s outskirts. Dion was the sacred place of the Ancient Macedonians. Museum of this archeological sight is quite worth seeing.
