New distinctions for MAKEDONIA PALACE
at the Greek Hospitality Awards 2020

Thessaloniki’s emblematic hotel is constantly on the rise

Three golden distinctions in the categories “Top Greek Hotel”, “Best Greek Business City Hotel” and “Best Greek Hotel Restaurant” were gained for yet another year by MAKEDONIA PALACE, at the institution of the Greek Hospitality Awards 2020.

At the awards, organized for the 6th year by Ethos Awards, the financial and business portal banks.com.gr and the MONEY magazine, among many other hotels and tourist businesses, MAKEDONIA PALACE won the highest golden distinction, as the top hotel of Greece, the golden distinction as the best conference hotel, and the silver distinction as the best hotel restaurant, thanks to the the gastronomic experience offered by Salonica Restaurant with the signature of top chef Sotiris Evangelou.

The inspiring teamwork that is led by a common vision, the adaptation of the hotel’s operation to the new circumstances of the Covid-19 era, and the total range of facilities, that it offers to its guests, inspires feelings of comfort and security.

Makedonia Palace is a destination on its own, awaiting every visitor to discover it.

On Monday 17th of February, the finest restaurants of Greece conferred the Golden Chef’s Cap by Athinorama. A glamorous ceremony including 70 awards for 28 restaurants from Greece titled with the Golden Chef’s Cap!
The restaurant progress in important tourist destinations such as Thessaloniki, got comfirmed with the new entrance of Salonica Restaurant of Makedonia Palace Hotel, making it the 1st hotel restaurant in Thessaloniki awarded with a Golden Chef’s Cap!

Behind the scenes of the elegant Salonica Restaurant, the multi-award-winning Chef Sotiris Evangelou creates a Greek cousin of his personal taste! Since it’s beginning, Salonica Restaurant is a landmark in the city’s gastronomic scene, suggests flavours and a cousine where hand picked raw materials from all over Greece and specially Macedonia can be found in it’s roots. The restaurant’s salon with it’s open kitchen offers a panoramic view of Thermaikos and mountain Olympus, as for summer season the action is transferred in Salonica Garden which reminds a
graceful garden infront of the sea.

The Lobby

Marble is present, as a reference to the historical and cultural continuity of this place, through a duo of shades: the white of Dionysus and the black of Melissochori, so far away and yet so close to each other, in a composition influenced by the leading artist Yannis Moralis with a clear geometric character. The glass guides the light through refraction and reflection. And, of course, the touches of copper in small but subtle details.

Collaboration between MAKEDONIA PALACE and PAOK FC to offer relief to refugees. Love knows no borders!

For all of us, the people of MAKEDONIA PALACE and of PAOK FC, the strong emotions brought forth by the tragedy these people are experiencing are heightened by our own historical memories of similar tragedies experienced by our ancestors.

Makedonia Palace, in collaboration with PAOK FC, is undertaking a series of actions to offer relief to refugees.

Following the example of PAOK FC, who donated one euro for every ticket sold for the PAOK FC – Borussia Dortmund match and intends to donate the same amount for the team’s next two European matches to be played in its home stadium, MAKEDONIA PALACE is taking action and donating one euro for every overnight stay between the 20th of October and the 3rd of November 2015, actively supporting the Organization “Doctors of the World (Medecins du Monde)” and other humanitarian NGOs.

At the same time, MAKEDONIA PALACE and PAOK FC are organizing the immediate collection of clothing (mostly windbreakers) and food, basic necessities and pharmaceuticals (such as adult antibiotics, skin ointments, ear, nose and throat drops, antidiarrheal medications for adults and children, gastro-resistant medications, paracetamols of all types, and cough drops) for the refugees hosted in Thessaloniki and for those who are arriving at the Eidomeni border crossing on a daily basis. Volunteers can bring any of the above items that they wish to the Makedonia Palace reception, or to Gate 4 of the Toumba Stadium, starting on Monday, the 5th of October.
